SECOND DIVISION CONVENTION

LEGION, AUXILIARY AND SONS OF THE LEGION

APRIL 30 –May 2, 2010

 

HOTEL INFORMATION

The convention will be held at the Crowne Plaza Northwest, 12801 Northwest Freeway, Houston, Texas 77040.  713-462-9977. Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out on Sunday will be noon. Room rates will be $79.00 per night plus taxes.  Cut off date for these rates will be April 15th. The breakfast buffet is usually $12.95 however, our members will be issued coupons to purchase the breakfast for $8.00 per guest.  Look at their website at www.cphouston.com for more amenities.

 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

 

Pre-registration fees will be $25.00 if submitted before April 16, 2010.  Registration at the site will be $30.00.  Please complete and mail attached form to address indicated on the form. Please make extra copies of the form as needed.

 

PROGRAM ADVERTISEMENTS

 

Attached is a form for advertisements in the Program.  Please make copies of it and try to sell advertisements to businesses in your community.  This year it will be imperative that we sell many advertisements.  We are receiving a very good deal on the room rates and need to make up the funds for the meeting rooms by selling advertisements.  The program will be 8 ˝” by 11” and in color.  A full page will be    $ 100.00; half page $ 50.00; quarter page $ 25.00; business card  $15.00.  The deadline to submit ads will be April 15th. Please send a clear copy of your ad.  It is best to send it via e-mail. Please make copies of the enclosed form as needed.

 

PRESIDENT’S AND COMMANDER’S RECEPTION

 

Friday April 30, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. will be the reception in the 10th floor Hospitality Room.  We need donations of both food and beverages for this function.  Please contact Bill Manbeck at 713-542-2143 or b.manbeck@comcast.net  

 

MEETINGS ON SATURDAY

 

The Legion and Auxiliary will have workshops starting at 10:00 a.m. The S.A.L. will start their meeting at 11:00 a.m.  There will be a joint session at 1:00 p.m.  Legion, Auxiliary and S.A.L. will have individual meetings immediately following the joint session.

 

BANQUET AND AUCTION

 

The banquet will be Saturday at 6:00 p.m.  Please be sure to indicate on the registration form if you will be attending the banquet.  We need to have an accurate head count.  Immediately following the banquet will be an auction.  We are asking Posts, Units, Squadrons and Districts to please bring a gift basket to be auctioned off.  The Peters Family will be conducting the auction.  So we know there will be a lot of fun in store for us.

 

JOINT MEMORIAL SERVICE – 8:00 A.M. SUNDAY
